Champions Trophy 2025: PCB plans security for Indian team

Champions Trophy 2025: PCB plans security  for Indian team

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans security  for  Indian cricket team ahead of  Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to take place in the country on February to year.

The PCB has proposed three venues to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its initial draft schedule and the governing body will consider feedback from  participating nations on the issue.

Sources told Geo News that Pakistan has decided to minimize travel from India as a security measure.

It was further revealed that in the first round, all  India's matches will be played in one city.

However, the name of the city or location has not been revealed yet.

ICC's pitch consultant Andy Atkinson visited the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday where he shared his input with local ground staff on preparing the pitch for big event.

Atkinson will visit three locations, starting with Karachi, to inspect gaming facilities.

After Karachi, he will also visit Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Earlier on Tuesday, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi told reporters that there was no reason why India should not  travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

"We have sent the schedule [of the Champions Trophy] to the ICC,  eight teams will come," Naqvi assured.

“There is no reason for India to  refuse to come.

“If they [India] are spreading propaganda, why aren't you doing it?

 Naqvi asked the media.

“We are not thinking about a hybrid model, we are not talking about it.

” Remember that Pakistan is also upgrading its halls in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore and Naqvi expects to complete the renovation work within four to five months.

“Work to modernize the stadium  is progressing rapidly.

Yes, there have been some delays, but we are determined to get this done as quickly as possible,” Naqvi said.

“We have a three-member committee working exclusively  on this issue.

There is the director of infrastructure, the director of international cricket and the remaining is the director of domestic cricket.

The event will mark the return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus,  last time in 2017, when Pakistan emerged victorious by defeating India in the final.

Confirmed teams  for the  ICC Champions Trophy 2025 include Pakistan (host), India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England and Bangladesh.
